A North Carolina woman was arrested after allegedly dumping a pot of hot grease onto her neighbors gathered on a front porch on Sunday, authorities said Monday.

The eight victims ranged from ages 2 to 60, and screams could be heard rippling throughout the north Charlotte neighborhood as the grease reportedly hit their hands, arms and faces.

“It just sounds like something you’d hear in a horror movie,” neighbor Lajerrl Robinson told WSOC-TV in Charlotte.

Police charged Regina Terry, 33, with seven counts of malicious maiming after the chaotic incident that began with an argument between residents in 1511 A Polk Street and 1511 B, the Charlotte Observer reported.

“A suspect who was inside apartment A came outside and took a pot of hot grease and threw it on everybody ... who was on the front porch,” a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police spokesman said in a news release.

Terry bolted after allegedly throwing the grease. It’s unclear what set off Sunday afternoon’s feud.

“That’s just malicious,” neighbor Toyea Jordan told WSOC after police were called. “I was horrified to think of the kids and whoever else got burned.”

The 2-year-old and a 27-year-old had to be flown to a Chapel Hill burn center, The Observer said, while four other victims were also taken to the hospital.

Their conditions were not immediately known.

CBS affiliate WBTV in Charlotte said an eighth victim was a young girl who suffered superficial burn wounds to her arms.

Police also charged Terry with six counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and one count of assault with a deadly weapon.

Neighbors said they never expected the quarreling could turn so heated.

“They argue on a daily basis, but it never gets physical ... this right here went to another level,” a neighbor told WBTV.
